Good streak while it lasted. Geesh.

Busy time. Since the last post Garrett entered the public school system. He’s in kindergarten and loving every minute of it. Since we were a one-income family he’s never been to daycare, so to prep him we put him in a part time preschool last year to acclimate him. One month in and no worries…he’s taken to school completely. We don’t have to walk him to the door – he’ll jump into the front seat, let himself out, and run into the building on his own. This leaves Ethan alone in the house seven hours a day now, and he’s really blossoming into his own now that he’s not having to share the daytime spotlight.

I got moved into a new team at work that is more closely aligned with Network and the data we manage. A little stressful coming into a new team, more so being remote, but so far so good. I was with my old team for seven years, an eternity in this modern corporate era, so there’s a lot of change to accept. Everyone seems nice so far and my mentor came with me, so the break-in phase has been easier that it could have been.

WVU is off to their expected start. 4-0 with a stern test at South Florida tomorrow night to open the Big East schedule. The offense has been almost as good as advertised, although a bit slow to start games. The defense has gotten better game-by-game but now get to show what they can do against more difficult competition. We sit #5 in the coaches poll, in good shape for the remaining two thirds of the season. Can’t worry about teams 1-4…gotta win ‘em all first and let the chips fall where they may.

The Panthers aren’t faring quite as well, 2-1 to start their season. All wins on the road, the lone loss at home. The offensive line play has generally been better, although it stunk against Houston two weeks ago. The defense is nothing to write home about. I said it to a friend in Charlotte a couple years ago – I wonder how much our defense is overrated. The pass rush from the front four is not consistent and the corner play has been atrocious the past few years. At least we beat the hated Falcons last week. Double bonus – ex-VThug DeAngelo Hall blows his lid on one drive, racking up three personal fouls for 67 yards and a gimmie touchdown.

Packed up Al and sent him off to Dallas yesterday. Thank God he didn’t rent the U-Haul.
